2012 In Review

In the last 3 months, I have started reading many amazing blogs of runners throughout the United States.  As the year comes to a close, I've been inspired to reflect on my growth over the last year and actually write it out in words.  So to begin this blog - a look back at my accomplishments from 2012.

1. Celebrated 1 year of working for my company and 1 year of dating my boyfriend.  Since graduating in 2011 and beginning the life of a "grown-up", I've seen a lot of personal growth in myself.  The first few months, I was a disaster (well okay, it wasn't that bad, but there were some emotional issues I was working through).  I finally was able to see how my actions were affecting the relationships around me.  Starting in 2012, things are taking shape and I am happy and comfortable and making better decisions for myself.

2. I lost 10 pounds!  This was a huge accomplishment that I wasn't even planning for.  I started the year trying to lose about 5 pounds, so I began increasing my exercise and examining what I ate.  Now I'm a happy 135 pounds.  Before my brother's wedding in September 2011, I was 150 pounds.  Now, the clothes I was wearing then fall off of me.  I feel stronger and empowered about my health.

3. I ran my second half marathon and cut 20 minutes off my time from the year before.  After that, with Daniel's support, I caught the running bug and together we ran one 10k and six 5k races.  My 5k time improved from 29:58 to 27:40 in 5 months.  My training has improved tremendously with Daniel encouraging me along the way.  I've spent the last 2 months building a base of miles in preparation for a third half marathon.  I can't wait to see what next year brings!

My goals for 2013 include still finding the right spiritual place in my life as well as a million running and fitness goals that I am still narrowing down.  I will have a better list of resolutions by the end of the week.  Happy New Year!  What is your resolution for 2013?
